Specialist Support at Cavendish View School
At Cavendish View School, we are committed to providing a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to meet the diverse needs of our pupils and their families. Our team of specialists work collaboratively to support pupils’ development, wellbeing, and academic progress.
Speech and Language Therapy
We employ a qualified Speech and Language Therapist who is on site five days per week. They work closely with staff to deliver targeted interventions and support the development of pupils’ speech, language, and communication skills, both on an individual and small-group basis.
Play Therapy
Our Play Therapist is available two days per week and delivers therapeutic sessions on a one-to-one basis. Prior to commencing sessions, the therapist will meet with parents or carers to explain the purpose of the provision and obtain appropriate consent.
Occupational Therapy
Our Occupational Therapist supports pupils in achieving outcomes outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This includes providing specialist guidance on sensory integration and working alongside staff to design timetables and activities that promote sensory development within daily practice.
Family Liaison and Safeguarding
Our Family Liaison Officer is also the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead. They are available to support families in a wide range of areas, including making referrals to external services such as the continence team, CAMHS, or Alder Hey for pathway advice.
They coordinate additional support through Team Around the Family (TAF) processes and contributes to Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) meetings. Their role is to ensure that families feel supported and advocated for, while maintaining the safety and wellbeing of all pupils.
Positive Behaviour Support
Our Positive Behaviour Specialist, supported by a PBS Assistant, works with staff to effectively respond to the range of pupil behaviours encountered throughout the school day. They ensure that Behaviour Support Plans are clearly understood and consistently implemented, and that communication with families remains strong and transparent.
Wellbeing Support
Our Wellbeing Champion promotes and supports both physical and mental wellbeing across the school community, working with staff and pupils to foster a positive and supportive environment.
Our Approach
Cavendish View School prides itself on its strong multi-disciplinary approach. All members of staff work collaboratively, combining their expertise to provide holistic support that benefits both pupils and their families.
