I would like to support the school, How can I get involved? +
We are developing a Governor role for parents, and information will be sent to parents in due course. We do not currently have a PTA, though parents are welcome to accompany their children on school trips. We also hold monthly Parent Partnership meetings that all are welcome and encouraged to attend.
How does the school keep me informed about my child’s progress/ learning? +
You will be invited to attend your child’s Annual EHCP review each year. This is a chance for us to monitor progress and review any outcomes. You will also be invited to attend parent’s evening in the Autumn and Spring terms. In the Summer term, you will receive a written report and are invited into school to discuss this should you so wish.
How can I communicate with my child’s class teacher? +
Teachers are available at the start and end of each day for you to speak with. They are not able to speak with you during the school day due to their teaching commitments. However, you can arrange a telephone call or meeting by contacting the school office at any time.
Is my child too ill for school? +
If your child has experienced episodes of vomiting and/or diarrhoea, we ask that they remain absent until 48 hours after the last episode. If you feel your child is well enough
to attend school, please make every effort for them to attend. Should they become unwell during the day, school staff will telephone and ask for you to collect your child. For more detailed information, please refer to our Attendance Policy.
How does the school communicate with parents? +
We communicate through letters and Newsletters, and through use of Class Dojo. We are in the process of moving to new systems for communication , including Arbour and Earwig. Parents are welcome to telephone the school with any questions, and can make an appointment to meet with staff this way.
What do I do if my child is absent from school? +
Please telephone the school by 8.30am on your child’s first day of absence, and each subsequent day to keep us updated. For more detailed information, please refer to our Attendance Policy. Please also ensure that your transport/PA are aware that your child will not be in school.
Where can I park at the start/end of the school day or visiting the school? +
On-site parking is very limited. Parents are able to park on Cavendish Drive outside the school, though we kindly request that parents do not park in front of the Salvation Army building next door to school as they have service users with limited mobility.
